  • PhotoMust be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • No misdemeanor violations within the last 3 years.
  • Must not have used an illegal drug (i.e. marijuana) within the last 6 months.
  • An applicant cannot have been convicted of a Domestic Violence Act.
  • No DWIs within the last 5 years whether from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department, a criminal conviction or a military disciplinary action.
  • No multiple DWIs within the last 10 years whether from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department, a criminal conviction or a military disciplinary action.
  • No felony convictions.

Job Responsibility

A PSA assists officers on patrol with traffic accidents, misdemeanor offenses, delivery of paperwork, parking enforcement and many other duties and responsibilities. It allows potential cadets to learn about the Albuquerque Police Department and its policies and procedures, while serving their community. PSAs earn $10.32 an hour / $21,466.00 a year.
