The
Albuquerque Police Department wants you to help keep our community
safe! The purpose of the Reserve Unit is to assist the Police
Department in the performance of its duties where and when needed.
This is a volunteer position that enables you to contribute your
expertise and time to help keep your community safe, secure and
crime free.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be 21 years of age by graduation from the Academy.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must not have committed a misdemeanor within the last 3 years.
- Must not have used an illegal drug (i.e. LSD) within the last
3 years.
- Must not have used marijuana within the last 2 years.
- An applicant cannot have been convicted of a Domestic
Violence Act.
- Must not have committed a DWI within the last 5 years whether
from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department,
a criminal conviction or a military disciplinary action.
- Must not have committed multiple DWIs within the last 10 years
whether from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department,
a criminal conviction or a military disciplinary action.
- No felony convictions
- 270 hours (16 weeks) of classroom instruction at the Academy.
- Academy days and hours:Every Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 p.m.
to 10:30 p.m.Every Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- 180 hours of On-the-Job Training.
