  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be 21 years of age by graduation from the Academy.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must not have committed a misdemeanor within the last 3 years.
  • Must not have used an illegal drug (i.e. LSD) within the last 3 years.
  • Must not have used marijuana within the last 2 years.
  • An applicant cannot have been convicted of a Domestic Violence Act.
  • Must not have committed a DWI within the last 5 years whether from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department, a criminal conviction or a military disciplinary action.
  • Must not have committed multiple DWIs within the last 10 years whether from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department, a criminal conviction or a military disciplinary action.
  • No felony convictions
  • 270 hours (16 weeks) of classroom instruction at the Academy.
  • Academy days and hours:Every Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.Every Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 180 hours of On-the-Job Training.
  • One shift on patrol per month.
  • Your professional expertise.
  • 4 hours in-service training per month.
  • A desire to help your community.

  • Reserve officer certification and authority.
